Tried out the vegan banquet. Some of the best Indian food I've had! Not disgustingly oily like some places. Really good flavours. The roti is great even without margarine (but would love to see them use coconut nuttelex or just vegetable oil for vegan roti! But really it didn't even need anything)
The cauliflower dish was our favourite.
I'd love to see the vegan options on the regular menu clearly marked too, as we would love to come back and try more things (especially something with lots of mushrooms!) but luckily the staff are really helpful anyway so I'm happy to ask them :)
Oh I'd also like to see them make coconut chutneys for dipping, they gave us non-vegan sauce with papadums when we sat down and accidentally gave it to us again with our entree, but then gave me a mango chutney when I pointed out the other one isn't vegan. But yeah coconut chutneys would be even better, like the ones you get with dosa!
Great food, I was working in the area and came
Across this place. Has most of the Indian restaurants in Melbourne well covered!! but unfortunately running what appeared to be short staffed meant a one hour wait between entree and main, food great maybe next time I'll get take away though to save the wait as they were pumping out the take out orders but too slow to look after the people eating in.
We have been searching Melbourne and Victoria for a decent Indian restaurant for 14 years and we have found it in Wangaratta. The staff were friendly and efficient and the menu was extensive. We started with perfectly cooked and spiced vege samosas and onion bhajis. The key to a good chicken curry for us is breast of chicken and this is what we were served. The Chicken Passanda was the most delicious dish I've eaten in many years. Rice and garlic naan made great accompaniments to this memorable meal. We will now have to find reasons to return to Wangaratta regularly to eat here again.
